Ward Support Worker (Child Health)

Job summary

o To assist with meeting the needs of parents and carers on the inpatient ward.o To orientate families to the unit and hospital environment and facilitieso To organise the ordering and serving of patient meals.o To collate information from friends and family questionnaire.

Main duties of the job

o Welcome patients to the ward in a friendly, professional manner, orientating them and their families to the ward and hospital where necessary.o Be responsible for the management and storage of ward food supplies.o Carry out weekly audits for cleanliness in key areas.o Assist in ensuring that children/young people receive appropriate food and to serve meals.o To assist the nursing staff in promoting family centred care.o To ensure parents kitchen and parents rooms are clean and stocked up daily.o To keep parents' information board up to date with relevant information.o To collate information for friends and family test for G2.o To contribute to the maintenance of a safe environment, to check all fridge temperatures on a daily basis.o To act as fire warden for the unit.
