Job summary
We are looking for a proactive, motivated, forward thinking and dynamic individual to join our Consultant team at Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will be based at Basingstoke Hospital and will provide cover for both obstetrics and gynaecology. The department would welcome a candidate committed to both Obstetrics and Gynaecology and we would be able to accommodate a specialist interest in benign gynaecology, early pregnancy, vulval disease or an obstetrics interest. The locum post is for an initial period of 6 - 12 months and is available for an immediate start.
This post is advertised as a full time, 10 PA post. The successful candidate will be based primarily at our Basingstoke site although all staff are expected to work across sites if the need arises and sessions may well be in Winchester, Basingstoke and Andover.
There is a 1 in 8 non-resident on-call commitment providing cover for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Main duties of the job
This post is fixed term 10 PA post. There will be antenatal clinics, LW / elective caesarean section lists, early pregnancy scan sessions, benign gynaecology clinics and theatre. The successful candidate will be encouraged to provide an area of specialist interest and this can be accommodated in the job plan after discussion. The non resident on-call commitment (1 in 8) covers both Obstetrics and Gynaecology emergencies.
There are 3 WTE Speciality Doctors contributing to resident on call duties along with 5 WTE Specialist Registrars from the Wessex Deanery.

- On the GMC Specialist Register and holding the CCT or within 3 months of obtaining the CCT (with evidence of sound progression)

Experience & Knowledge
Essential
- Able to deal independently with common emergencies in general obstetrics
- Experience of working in the NHS for at least 1 year
- Desire to support and promote safe birth
- Accredited expertise in the area of declared interest

- Adult Basic Life Support training up to date within 12 months
- Neonatal Resuscitation training up to date within 12 months
- Emergency drills training up to date within 12 months
