We are seeking an experienced and dedicated nurse to support in the leadership of the inpatient ward and ambulatory unit for the new Hampshire Elective Orthopaedic Hub
We are excited to announce the opening of our state-of-the-art Orthopaedic Centre in Winchester, scheduled for July 2025. This new facility is a testament to our Trust's ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare services in the region and working collaboratively with orthopaedic services across Hampshire and Isle of Wight to serve patients across our communities.
Excellent team working and communication skills are essential for this role along with a need to establish and maintain good working relationships within the multidisciplinary team and wider services to work collaboratively and co-operatively to enhance quality of care.
The successful candidate will provide direction and inspirational leadership to junior members of the multidisciplinary team; they will also be expected to work as an expert clinical practitioner providing high quality of care to patients and service users.
The postholder will support the ward senior sister/charge nurse in the management of general resources, both personnel and financial and to ensure the effective operation of the clinical areas whilst maintaining high professional and clinical standards.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse will be working within the Hampshire Orthopaedic Centre inpatient ward and ambulatory unit:
- Experienced practitioner in Ambulatory/Surgical/Orthopaedic nursing.
- Day to day operational management of the inpatient ward and ambulatory unit.
- To support the band 7 in the delivery of the service by the team or area that you are responsible for or have been delegated the responsibility
- High standards of Professional Practice to ensure quality and safety of patient care, experience and the patient journey
- Monitoring key quality and performance indicators and service pressures and recommending /implementing actions to address them.
- Ensuring necessary / appropriate equipment is available for management treatment needs of the patients covered within the clinical area.
- Reporting on workforce requirements for meeting service demand
- Line management of staff working within the service area
- Responsible for staff supervision, annual appraisal, management of attendance and performance, and identifying and facilitating staff training needs.
- Supporting the band 7 in ensuring that clinical services are delivered to a high quality of care and that all compliance requirements such as CQC and contractual requirements are achieved.
