Radiology Department Assistant, Breast Screening Department- Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Location: Royal Hampshire County Hospital and Basingstoke Hospital Hospital as required

Main duties of the job

Working Hours: Part time - 08.30 - 1700 adjustable hours to suit clinics

Monday - Friday

Who we are: We are a friendly Breast Screening Department who cover the north and mid-Hants Breast screening service area.. The main facility is at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital and a satellite department at Basingstoke Hospital. The main duties are in the ultrasound room, assisting advanced practitioner radiographers and radiologists during symptomatic and screening assessment clinics.

Job responsibilities

Role Description: The candidate will work in the Breast Screening Department, at Winchester and Basingstoke hospitals.

The role involves assisting Advanced practice Radiographers and Radiologists in the ultrasound room, during clinics, in either RHCH of BNH hospitals as required. It involves escorting patients into the room, and preparing them for the examination, setting out sterile trolleys and aiding the radiographer/ radiologist in Biopsy and localisation techniques.

there may be some duties aiding the radiographer in the x-ray room or clerical staff in the office area on occasion.

perform basic aseptic technique and clinical observations, stock ordering and clean the equipment. They will use hospital IT systems to input and record data. This is an important role supporting the Radiology staff to provide a high quality service in a department with a large number of patients seen each day.
