Job summary
This exciting role is part of the workforce for the new elective orthopaedic hub which is being built on the Royal Hampshire County Hospital site.
As a trainee advanced clinical practitioner you will receive extensive supervision and training, along side your MSc to develop advanced practice skills, knowledge, and experience to manage orthopaedic patients through the inpatient Surgical pathway.
You will become an indispensable part of our supportive wider MDT which includes existing advanced nurse practitioners.
We are looking for a dynamic, flexible nurse with experience in advanced practice and triage skills who is capable of taking on a developing and autonomous role.
Main duties of the job
- Trainee Orthopaedic Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) working towards developing a high level of practice characterized by a high degree of autonomy and highly complex decision making.
- The trainee Orthopaedic ACP role encompasses the skills of assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice. Gaining highly developed specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience
- The trainee Orthopaedic ACP will deliver direct patient care, and their remaining time will be spent undertaking supportive activities determined by their level of competency to align to the 4 pillars of advanced practice

4. They support the delivery of a service by the team or area for which you have delegated responsibility for which may include:
- Professional adviser
- Service developments in own speciality services
- Delivers education to the multi disciplinary team
- Assessment and treatment of own caseload of patients
- Contributes to clinical governance within the whole clinical team, alongside the clinical service leads
- Ensuring clinical services are delivered to a high quality of care and that all compliance requirements such as CQC and contractual requirements are achieved
- Participates in research in the specialist area
- Undertakes clinical audit
- Adviser for the speciality both internally and externally
