Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our patient meal and/or restaurant team. There are various opportunities available, however we are mainly looking for individuals who can work flexibly, 5 days in 7, in our restaurant service. The days can be fixed as part of a 2 week rota so will work around other commitments. There may also be the opportunity to pick up other shifts ad hoc as part of our bank team, depending on availability and our current need, so please do get in touch to discuss if you are interested.

Main duties of the job

The Catering Department at Hampshire Hospitals (Basingstoke), provide meals to patients and staff. Duties will include theplating of patient meals, cleaning and sanitizing of the catering premises and equipment, and working in ouron site restaurant.We are looking to employ someone who goes the extra mile, and really cares about offering our patients an excellent service, and who is willing to learn new skills and gain new knowledge to support our service. It is a multi-purpose role in which the post holder may be required to work across any of the sections within the Catering operation. This role is for the commitment to do 30 hours per week, often with the option to pick up additional hours covering Annual Leave and other absence. The shifts are 3 hour shifts, worked as breakfast, lunch, tea or supper, on a 2 week rota, negotiable at interview. Preferred applicants would be able to work flexibly and able to cover all 4 shifts, although outside commitments, can be taken into account when discussing hours. We will offer you a full induction and training and uniforms and PPE are provided.

Shift times are:

07.30 - 10.30 Breakfast

11.30 - 14.30 Lunch

14.30 - 17.30 Tea (restaurant only)

17.30 - 20.30 Supper (patient meals only)

Essential

  • Good standard of education or equivalent experience - equivalent to GCSE at grades 4-9, A-C, NVQ level 2 or equivalent experience
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to undertake
