Band 3 Antenatal and Newborn Screening Administrator

Full time- Cross site working (Andover, Winchester and Basingstoke)

We are looking for an experienced administrator looking for a new challenge to join our Screening Midwives. You will work closely with the team but should be confident in prioritising your own workload and working on your own initiative.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake a daily audit of blood samples sent for fetal anomaly screening, maintain an excel spread sheet of all results and send out letters and results to women.
  • Update the data base for sickle cell and thalassemia screening, communicate problem samples to the relevant teams and follow up results.
  • Checking and updating the national failsafe data base for newborn blood spot screening and communicating requests for repeat samples to the community midwifery teams and following up results.
  • Checking and updating the national newborn physical examination failsafe data base, communicating delayed screening to the relevant team and updating the failsafe for babies requiring hip scans.
  • Assist the ANNB Screening Coordinator by undertaking a monthly audit to ensure the booking cohort of women have completed screening for infectious disease and sickle cell and thalassemia.
  • Assist the ANNB Screening Coordinator by undertaking a weekly audit to ensure the booking cohort have completed fetal anomaly screening.
  • Assisting the ANNB screening coordinator in collating quarterly and annually data for all antenatal and newborn screening programmes.
  • Assisting with the general day to day running of the service by checking the shared email account, answering telephone enquiries, photocopying, ordering stock and collecting notes.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and show compassion to women in challenging situations.
