FIXED TERM - 7 MONTHS - 0.6 WTE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic person to join our friendly team of Pelvic Floor Physiotherapists. Based within the Women's Health Department at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, this team provide highly specialist physiotherapy intervention to patients within the Urogynecology service.

Main duties of the job

You will be working within the multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist physiotherapy input within the Urogynecology service. This post will predominantly based at Winchester hospital but the successful candidate will be required to work at Andover, with cross site peer support.

  • Management shall be centred on a specialist pelvic floor physiotherapy and continence service.
  • The role will require specific experience / knowledge in the following essential areas:
    • The assessment and management of female stress urinary incontinence, mixed urinary incontinence, and overactive bladder.
    • The assessment and management of pelvic organ prolapse.
    • The assessment and management of female sexual dysfunction including vestibulodynia and vaginismus.
    • The assessment and management of female chronic pelvic pain.
    • The assessment and management of concurrent bowel dysfunction in females, including obstructed defecation syndrome and faecal incontinence.
    • Skills necessary:
    • Pelvic floor rehabilitation
    • Competent in vaginal and ano-rectal examinations
    • Use of neuromuscular electrical stimulation and electromyographic biofeedback

About us

We are a friendly department who pride ourselves on working together as part of a team comprising urogynaecology consultants, urogynaecology nurses and pelvic health physiotherapists. We have two inpatient wards; Anthony Letchworth Ward in Winchester and the Women's Health Unit in Basingstoke which both care for women undergoing both breast and gynaecological operations as well as caring for women up to 16 weeks of pregnancy.Our gynaecological outpatient services run clinics including Colposcopy, Hysteroscopy, Menstrual disorders, Urogynaecology, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy and Early Pregnancy Assessment.

The post holder will be expected to provide highly specialist advice and treatment to their own caseload of patients.

They will also provide specialist education to other staff and students ensuring that basic specialist knowledge and skills are developed and maintained in the wider clinical teams to ensure continuity of high-quality care in the absence of the specialist teams.
