Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 nurse to join G2 and the Paediatric Assessment Unit (Charlie's Day Unit) at Hampshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Basingstoke site. You must be a Registered Children's Nurse with excellent clinical skills, self-motivated, enthusiastic and committed to providing high standards of care for all our Paediatric patients, their families and carers.

Main duties of the job

The unit delivers family centred care in a friendly environment, where you will have the opportunity to further develop a wide range of skills working with children of all ages. You will be able to develop your managerial skills in a supportive environment, with the opportunity to attend appropriate leadership training. We are committed to support your personal development.

About us

G2 is the acute unit on G floor. Close working links with Emergency Department (ED), Childrens assessment unit and Children's Home Acute Team (CHAT). Charlie's Day Unit (CDU) is a children's day assessment unit and provides care for children and young people who are undergoing a range of day case investigations and procedures such as food challenges as part of our allergy service, Oncology, MRI's under sedation, Paediatric nurse led clinics. CDU also provides triage, assessment and observation for those children referred to the unit by community colleagues because of an acute illness.

The department is currently working closely with colleagues in the emergency department where a new assessment unit has just been opened to assist with Paediatric flow through the emergency department. You will be working closely with colleagues in Children's outpatients, which is co-located with the rest of the Paediatric unit on G floor, Children's Community Nurses, and medical colleagues and other members of the multidisciplinary team. The staff strives to provide the delivery of a high quality safe service to all who attend the unit.

  • Child Health Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, or employment experience
  • Professional UK registration e.g. RSCN , CH Dip

Desirable

  • Degree or evidence of working towards a Degree in the relevant field.

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) clearly recorded for professional profile
  • Completed clinical placements in a variety of areas

Desirable

  • Experience of staff supervision

Skills & Ability

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate the required behaviour in keeping with the Trust values
  • Ability to communicate written and verbal information in English, keeping legible and accurate notes
