Job summary

The Governance Team of Hampshire Hospitals NHS FT (HHFT) is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team for a secondment in the role of Patient Safety Manager. You will champion and promote patient safety improvement across the Trust and lead the Learning from Deaths processes.

As the ideal candidate you should have a sound knowledge of the national patient safety strategy and a track record in delivering improvements. You will also have excellent team and communication skills to enable you to influence and encourage working to enhance the safety of patients. A clinical professional qualification / background is required.

Main duties of the job

The Patient Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that systems and processes are in place to monitor patient safety with an emphasis on learning from deaths, learning from incidents and responding to national safety alerts.

The role will also include the delivery of the Trust patient safety priorities, promotion of a safety culture that emphasises learning (including shared learning) and direct support to staff undertaking learning responses and thematic reviews.

The post holder will be an expert in the NHS Patient Safety Strategy and will assist the Associate Director of Governance and Head of Patient Safety and Risk to deliver the Trust safety strategy.
