Job summary

Position for a Trust Registrar in ENT at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. This is an appointment to increase capacity available in the ENT departments and provide specialist training.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking individuals who share our passion for improving the quality of ENT services. The successful applicant will join a department of three ENT Consultants, one Associate Specialist, 2 specialist registrars, 1 surgical trainee Clinical Fellow and 1 GP VTS.

The post is based at the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospitals; however clinical sessions may also be timetabled at other Trust and satellite sites.

The post-holder will be expected to supervise junior doctors and will be expected to see new and follow up patients in the Out-patient clinic, lead with ENT emergencies and to carry out ENT procedures in the operating theatre. There is ample opportunity to be involved in research and audit projects locally.

Training & Qualification

Essential

  • Full Registration with GMC
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Management of ENT Admissions at SpR level or ST2
  • MRCP Part 1 and Part 2

Desirable

  • Evidence of continuing professional learning

Clinical Experience & Kowledge

Essential

  • Clinical awareness in ENT
  • Recognise, assess and manages patients.
  • Requests relevant investigations and acts upon results
  • Up-to-date with current medical practice and performs procedures safely
  • Ability to make progress towards independent thinking towards management decision and practice
  • Keen, motivated and enthusiastic to learn and care for patients

Desirable

  • Experience of working within the NHS
