Job summary

Part time - 22.5 hours per week

This is a developmental role and an opportunity for a RGN to progress into a specialist nursing environment.

The Post holder will be jointly responsible for the nursing management of patients requiring Stoma Care, in the Hospital/Community settings and Outpatient clinic. You will assist in the day-to-day management of the stoma care service and provide the best possible service to patients and their carers.

Following relevant training and assessment the post holder will be able to provide patient education and counselling, and specialist treatment and advice for stoma patients and/or those who care for them.

Main duties of the job

  • Have continuing responsibility and accountability within their team in the delivery of high quality, evidence based nursing care that is aligned to the Trust objectives and included in the Trust Nursing Strategy.
  • Following relevant training the post holder will be required to be a source of clinical expertise, provide professional advice, and act as a specialist nursing resource.
  • Information will be shared with other Health care professionals facilitating best practice.
  • Work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team (both with the ward environment and externally to it) to ensure the delivery of effective pathways of care for patients and the delivery of corporate objectives.
  • Demonstrate continuing professional development, reflecting individual needs, the needs of the team, and the needs of the organisation.
