Are you a registered Children's Nurse with a passion for teaching and education, do you enjoy enhancing the learning experience of both our future and current workforce?

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our Clinical Practice Educator Team as a ward-based Children's Clinical Practice Educator. This pivotal role will focus on delivering education and training to support our Registered Nurses and learners across the Children's ward and Children's Emergency Unit (CEU) to support their career journey from entry to expert.

The postholder will be Children's NMC registered and will work closely with the CPE leads, linking into the academy to support high quality educational services to enhance the care of children across the two units

Main duties of the job

As the successful candidate you will promote a positive learning experience for learners using methods of teaching, coaching and supervision and provide support and training for both registered and Unregistered staff.

You will work closely and collaboratively with the Ward Managers, Matrons, Practice assessors/supervisors and AHP's to ensure there is robust oversight of the training and development needs for their areas of responsibility.

As a role model you will promote the sharing of good practice, delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care underpinned by the NMC standards.

Essential

  • NMC or Health Professions Council Registered
  • Degree in health-related subject
  • Up to date clinical competencies to include Venepuncture, cannulation, Medication and IV administration, PICC lines and NGT/catheter insertion

Desirable

  • Leadership qualification/ training
  • Qualification in education or clinical practice education
  • Evidence of planning and policy development around education and practice
  • Educated to master's level or equivalent experience in practice

Experience

Essential

  • Significant post registration experience
  • Experience of multi professional working
  • Experience of developing, mentoring, and assessing clinical staff
  • Involvement in clinical quality improvement projects in own area of practice

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an education environment including the development and delivery of training programmes
  • Leadership of the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of projects ensuring milestones are achieved and risks identified, and mitigation is in place
  • Experience of simulation training
