Job summary
Working as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) the Urology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist will work towards being an autonomous, professional clinical practitioner. They will develop to be responsible for providing specialist clinical services, as available within the area of urology cancer. The Urology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist will promote clinical excellence and evolve to provide specialised advice and support topatients with urological cancers and their carers throughout the treatment pathway.
Main duties of the job
The Urology Oncology Clinical Nurse specialist will provide expert advice and support to patients under investigation for and/or diagnosed with a urological cancer. The nurse will demonstrate advanced communication skills to support discussions surrounding diagnosis, treatment options and other issues pertinent to key stages within the cancer pathway. The Urology Oncology Nurse will assist in the support of patients with a suspected/confirmed diagnosis of a urological cancer,assessing, planning and implementing patient care in various clinical settings.
