Pain Management & Critical Care - 6-month Fixed Term Contract - Ending 31st March 2026Join our compassionate and dynamic team supporting patients in acute care settings. This role offers a rare opportunity to work closely with experienced psychologists in both pain management and critical care--ideal for those looking to deepen their understanding of complex physical and psychological health needs.

Cancer Services - 6-month Fixed Term Contract - Ending 31st March 2026Step into a vital role supporting patients through their cancer journey. You'll gain valuable experience in psycho-oncology, working alongside professionals who are committed to holistic, patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job

This is a fixed term role made possible via the NHS England Multi-professional and Education Plan, which provides funding for paid clinical work experience opportunities for disadvantaged aspiring clinical psychologists. We are offering two distinct paid work experience opportunities for aspiring clinical psychologists at Great Western Hospital:

Role 1: Cancer Services Psychology TeamYou will support the Cancer Psychology team in delivering specialist psychological care to individuals with a cancer diagnosis. This includes assisting with the development and delivery of training for non-psychologist colleagues working within cancer services. Your contribution will help enhance the psychological wellbeing of patients and support a more psychologically informed cancer care pathway.

Role 2: Pain Management & Critical Care Psychology TeamYou will work alongside psychologists in Pain Management and Critical Care, supporting the delivery of specialist psychological interventions for patients with complex physical health needs. You will also contribute to service development initiatives aimed at improving psychological support in these acute care settings.

In this role, you may also (to a limited extent) undertake structured psychological assessments and deliver psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist, within a hospital environment.
