Job summary
An attractive opportunity has arisen to join the Radiology Department at the Great Western Hospital as a Band 5 Radiographer
The successful candidate will conduct diagnostic radiological examinations across a range of clinical specialities, adapting techniques to accommodate a range of patient types; both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal requirements.
This role will include a 5% recruitment and retention premium. We welcome all applications for anyone looking to kickstart their Radiographer career.
Main duties of the job
1. To independently assess and justify referrals under IR(ME)R 2000 following practitioner guidelines where appropriate
2. To interpret Clinician's requirements, to determine the appropriate radiographic imaging technique and ensure that it is performed in accordance with best practice and that the resultant images are diagnostic
3. To work out of hours to support the Radiology services offered at Great Western Hospitals; including night shifts and weekends
4. To undertake CT scans in the absence of a Radiologist according to agreed protocols once trained
5. To use the departmental radiology information computer system (CRIS) as required and be conversantwith the picture archive communication system (PACS)
6. To undertake Quality Control procedures, including Quality Assurance testing for image quality andequipment safety
7. To undertake and participate in clinical audit and research and to act on the findings where possibleand provide statistical information on the work load when necessary
8. To provide a service within the community hospital's as part of a band 5 rotation
9. To complete all imaging requests in a timely manner
