Job summary

We are delighted to be advertising for two further Trainee Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (ANNPs) to join our growing team at Great Western Hospital in Swindon. You will become part of a highly motivated and passionate group of senior nurses who work collaboratively with the wider perinatal team to deliver high quality care to neonates and their families.

You will be supported throughout your three year apprenticeship by the senior ANNPs and newly qualified ANNPs currently working on the neonatal unit and will also have the opportunity to complete a tertiary placement to gain further intensive care experience. During your training you will have opportunities to develop in all four pillars of advanced practice working towards your Masters in Advanced Practice.

Main duties of the job

Attending Plymouth University and working with all members of the perinatal team to become a qualified ANNP, responsible for clinical leadership and management in the care of neonates and their families with a Masters in Advanced Practice.

Job responsibilities

Main duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge and clinical nursing practice by delivering evidenced based care.
  • Planning and implementation of infant management plans according to unit guidelines and protocols
  • Requesting investigations, interpretation of results and follow up.
  • Competent in the use of medical devices and responsible for the correct use of specialist equipment by the multidisciplinary team
  • Promote a positive and professional working environment
  • Encourage parents and carers to be actively involved in the planning and delivery of care to their infant
