An excellent opportunity has arisen in the busy Radiology Department at The Great Western Hospital in Swindon for a Senior Radiology Support Worker.

The Radiology department consists of 2 interventional rooms, 2 fluoroscopy rooms, 7 general X-ray rooms, 5 ultrasound rooms, 2 diagnostic CT scanners, 2 MRI scanners and a nursing recovery bay.
The department is always expanding and we would love you to join us in this expansion! Full training and support will be provided.
Main duties of the job
A Senior Health Care Support Worker (SHCSW) for Radiology is a core member of the team delivering direct care to patients and supporting registered practitioners to deliver high quality, compassionate healthcare to people in accordance with assessed needs and a care plan.The post holder will assist Doctors, Radiographers and Radiology Nursing staff in all aspects of patient care and diagnostic imaging and undertake a range of delegated tasks and delegated authority and will report to a registered practitioner. The post holder will teach and supervise junior staff but will not be responsible for their line management.
We are looking for committed support workers who are confident in cannulation and with some experience of looking after patients following biopsies. You must be passionate about doing the best for our patients through delivering excellent standards of care.

2. Complete duties that are delegated to you in line with care plans.
3. Use your knowledge, experience and understanding to take decisions within your area of responsibility.
4. To carry out a range of clinical duties with minimal / no supervision, including for example, preparing and positioning patients prior to examination, assistance and recovery of biopsy patients, taking Egfr samples, bladder flow measurements, peripheral intravenous cannulation, decanting, blood pressure monitoring, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature, pulse rate and respiration rate, glucose monitoring, collection and testing of urine samples / faecal samples / sputum samples and wound swabs ensuring delivery of high-quality patient care at all times. NB: this list is not exhaustive and will vary depending on area of work.
5. Participate in patient assessment providing high quality holistic patient care and escalating concerns about patients to other clinical staff.
6. Practice safe standards of care to patients following Trust guidelines and policies and policies and be able to concentrate for periods throughout the day with occasional interruptions.
7. Provide clinical care in accordance with the infection prevention and health and safety policies and procedures.
