The Great Western Hospital is a busy hospital set in the M4 corridor giving ample challenges and job satisfaction to a competent radiographer.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will join a friendly busy team at The great Western Hospital in a full time post rotating through cath lab, fluro with the added bonus of CT and plain film availability.

Job responsibilities

To independently assess and justify referrals under IR(ME)R 2000 following practitioner guidelineswhere appropriate.

Able to interpret Clinicians requirements, to determine the appropriate radiographic imagingtechnique and ensure that it is performed in accordance with best practice and that the resultantimages are diagnostic

To use discretion to work outside of departmental standards when clinical circumstancesnecessitate i.e. undertaking additional or specialist techniquesTo work out of hours to support the Radiology services offered at Great Western Hospital; nightsshifts may on occasion need to be coveredTo undertake CT scans in the absence of a Radiologist according to agreed protocolsTo be able to use the departmental radiology information computer system (CRIS) as required andbe conversant with the picture archive communication system (PACS)

To undertake Quality Control procedures, including Quality Assurance testing for image quality andequipment safety, and to help with clinical auditsTo undertake and participate in clinical audit and research and to act on the findings where possibleand provide statistical information on the work load when necessary

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
  • Registered with the Health Care Professions Council
  • General Radiographic training

Desirable

  • Evidence of CPD
  • Intravenous cannulation

Experience

Essential

  • At least two years post graduate experience in Radiography
  • Cardiac catheter labs experience
  • Interventional fluro competent

Desirable

  • Extensive Experience
  • Post graduate qualification

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team or single-handedly
  • Excellent patient care
  • Good communication skills
  • Good IT skills
