Fixed Term - 6 Months
The Great Western Hospital are currently looking to expand their Radiology department to support the recovery and current demand within diagnostics. The Radiology department hosts a suite of digital X-Ray rooms, CT, Interventional and Mobile X-Ray equipment.
You will conduct diagnostic radiological examinations across a range of clinical specialities, adapting techniquesto accommodate a range of patient types; both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal requirements.
Main duties of the job
1. To independently assess and justify referrals under IR(ME)R 2000 following practitioner guidelineswhere appropriate.
2. To interpret Clinician's requirements, to determine the appropriate radiographic imaging technique andensure that it is performed in accordance with best practice and that the resultant images are diagnostic.
3. To work out of hours to support the Radiology services offered at Great Western Hospitals; occasionallyincluding night shifts.
4. To undertake CT scans in the absence of a Radiologist according to agreed protocols.
5. To use the departmental radiology information computer system (CRIS) as required and be conversantwith the picture archive communication system (PACS).
6. To undertake Quality Control procedures, including Quality Assurance testing for image quality andequipment safety.
7. To undertake and participate in clinical audit and research and to act on the findings where possibleand provide statistical information on the work load when necessary.
8. To provide a service within the community hospital's as part of a band 5 rotation.
9. To complete all imaging requests in a timely manner
