Foundation Year 2 Doctor in Trauma & Orthopaedics
Applications are invited for Foundation Year 2 Doctor in Trauma & Orthopaedics to start ASAP. This advert is for a six month post, with the potential to be extended once the six months are completed.
The post holder will be employed for 40 hours/week (hours to be arranged), Monday to Friday, and will work in conjunction with other F2, ST 1/2 level doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Physician Assistant in T&O. There is also a requirement to form part of the on-call rota as part of this post.
The Great Western Hospital, Swindon, is a new DGH serving a population in excess of 310,000 and boasting state-of-the-art facilities. Training is given a high priority with readily accessible library and Postgraduate facilities.
The team also includes sixteen Consultants, four Associate Specialist, two Specialty Doctors and two full time Podiatrist Surgeons. We currently run a 36-bedded trauma unit and a 36-bedded MRSA-protected elective unit.
The candidates we are looking for must have MBBS or an equivalent qualification and full registration with the GMC.
Main duties of the job
The Duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service.
Clinical Duties:
- To be part of the T&O Team at the Great Western Hospital.
- To participate in supervised Consultant led new and follow-up outpatient clinics.
- To provide in-patient services to Trauma and Orthopaedic patients
- To participate in MDT meetings on a weekly basis.
- To participate in the general medicine on call rota [including out of hours]
- Participation in clinical audits.
- To contribute to undergraduate/post-graduate and continuing medical education activity.
- Conducting suitable duties in cases of emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.

Clinical Fellow ST3+ level doctors are key members of the Directorate team and are accountable and responsible for following the changes to service that will improve the patient experience set out by senior members of the team.
