Main duties of the job
The Neurodevelopmental Clinical Nurse Specialist is a Non-Medical Prescriber who will work within the Community Paediatric team to provide specialist support to children and young people with a diagnosis of ADHD and other neurodevelopmental disorders, and their families.
They will hold a caseload and independently prescribe medications for ADHD and sleep, under agreed service, and in accordance with local and NICE guidelines (NG87) and the principles of prescribing set out in the Competency Framework for all Prescribers (Royal Pharmaceutical Society 2016).
They will contribute to the multidisciplinary triage of cases and take on a co-ordinating role including formal liaison with other services for children and young people, including mental health services.

- Or hold the specialist Community Public Health Nursing - Health Visitor qualification
- Or hold the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing - School nurse qualification of the NMC register
- Post registration qualification/experience in independent prescribing recordable with the NMC (V300).

- Significant post registration experience including at a band 6 level or equivalent
- Significant post registration experience within a service working with children and young people OR adults with ADHD and its overlapping disorders.
- Extensive experience working with prescribed medicines.
Desirable
- Experience managing sleep disorders
