Are you a self-motivated, dynamic, professional Maternity Support Worker seeking a career as a Midwife.
We are proud to offer our first two positions on the new Registered Midwifery Degree Apprenticeship Programme, starting in January 2024.
You will be fully supported to carry out your clinical placements at the Great Western Hospital (GWH) in Swindon. Here at the GWH, we are proud to be able to facilitate an average of 4000 births per year. We offer an alongside Birth Centre and Delivery Suite, and an established continuity of care team. Your studies will be at Winchester University, where you will need to achieve 100% attendance.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for two experienced Maternity Support Workers that will demonstrate exceptional, clinical experience and the educational requirements to complete a three year, full time, Degree Apprenticeship.
The Apprentice will be supported by an Approved Education Institute (AEI) to complete a work-based pre-registration Midwifery Degree Apprenticeship programme. The Apprentice will need to meet the standards set out by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC,2009) and the Apprenticeship Regulations to obtain a Registered Midwifery Apprenticeship qualification and become an NMC pin registrant.
Midwifery Degree Apprentices will be expected to work fulltime (37.5 hours) and all shift patterns including night duties. Being a Midwife at The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, is a truly remarkable and rewarding career.

- O' Level / GCSE in English Language and Maths at A*-C or 9-4 pass or recognised equivalent or foundation skills level 2 Maths & English.
- Hold a min of 96 UCAS credits at level 3.
- Consistent evidence of continuous professional development within maternity

- Completed/in progress a senior maternity support worker level; 3 Apprenticeship or equivalent.
