We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Audit Assistant to join our team to provide a variety of administrative tasks for high priority projects including; minute taking, creating basic data collection tools, providing basic analysis and preparation of draft reports. You will need good IT and literacy skills particularly in Microsoft applications, an excellent eye for detail and have recent experience of administration. The successful post holder should possess excellent organisational and initiative skills, able to work proactively and methodically under pressure, manage multiple priorities and is an excellent communicator. Medical terminology would be an advantageous.

Working within the corporate division, we are a dynamic team who are responsible for the facilitation of clinical audit and quality improvement projects throughout the organisation. We efficiently provide support to clinical leads and specialist teams to complete improvement projects using national standards, clinical commissioning agendas, organisational and divisional priorities that drives to improve the care we deliver.

Main duties of the job

Provide administrative and technical support to the Clinical Audit, Effectiveness & Mortality Team in relation to clinical audit, improvement and mortality and morbidity activities. To support the team by providing assistance, promoting clinical audit, mortality and morbidity and quality improvement to health care professionals across the organisation.

About us

We are a small team who are responsible for the facilitation of the Trust's Clinical Audit Programme and Mortality & Morbidity processes. We provide specialist advice and support to those undertaking clinical audit and improvement projects, and mortality reviews. Working collaboratively with the wider quality team in the corporate services, our contribution supports the trust's quality and safety agenda, by understanding the level of healthcare delivered across the Trust and identifying where improvements could to be made.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  1. Support the Clinical Audit, Effectiveness & Mortality Manager with the implementation of the clinical audit and effectiveness projects and mortality processes.
  2. To support the development of Divisional clinical audit activity plans, assisting the Clinical Audit, Effectiveness & Mortality Manager in that process.
  3. Design and develop databases / spreadsheets to be used to collect data for audit and mortality.
  4. Collate and prepare clinical data for analysis.
  5. Undertake basic analysis of audit and mortality data, as arranged with the Clinical Audit, Effectiveness & Mortality Manager.
  6. Prepare specific reports and any supporting documentation such as presentations for clinical audit and mortality reporting.
  7. To lead on specific projects as directed by the Clinical Audit, Effectiveness & Mortality Manager
  8. Maintain up to date records of the Divisional audit and mortality activity on the clinical audit database.
  9. To support Clinical Audit, Effectiveness & Mortality Manager in the monitoring of action implementation.
  10. To provide assistance to clinical staff on the design and development of proposed audit projects. This may include guidance on selecting topics to audit, carrying out literature searches, advising on the appropriate audit methodology in order to promote the completion of the clinical audit cycle and mortality reviews.
  11. Liaise with all levels of Healthcare Professionals undertaking clinical audit projects, as required by Clinical Audit, Effectiveness & Mortality Manager.
  12. Attend Clinical Audit and Mortality related meetings and record minutes as required by the Clinical Audit, Effectiveness & Mortality Manager.
  13. To assist the team to actively promote the work of the Clinical Audit, Effectiveness and Mortality Team within the Organisation.
  14. To support with medical records procurement from the identified case note location, as required for Clinical Audit and Mortality projects.
