Swindon Sexual Health is looking for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse, who is willing to undertake a Band 5 development post.
You will commence your role as a Band 5, (dependent on the experience and skills that you bring), you will work in a development role as a member of the Sexual Health Team leading to a Band 6 Nursing role once deemed competent.
The successful candidate will complement our highly motivated community team. The successful post holder after training, will be able to screen, treat & control of sexually transmitted infections and assessing & issuing all methods of contraception.
The post holder will support the Senior Sister in leading and managing the nursing team in the absence of senior colleagues.
You will demonstrate evidence of well-developed clinical practice, excellent communication/interpersonal skills, be innovative and enthusiastic to meet the challenge of this expanded role.
Flexibility will be key to this role, as cover will be required across our sites. You will need to be available to work evenings and Saturdays as required.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will complete the National STIF competencies as a foundation to their training. Using these they will be able to run a nurse led clinic to take patient histories, examine, use microscopy, diagnose and provide treatment for the patients. PGD training will enable provision of medicines, with a view of progressing to Non-Medical Prescriber in the future.
The post holder will also be able to complete the DFSRH that enables them to counsel and provide patients with various types of contraception.
When these are complete and post holder deemed competent, they will become a Band 6 nurse.
