Job summary
You will be joining the Pharmacy AMS team providing and developing the antimicrobial stewardship programme at GWH. Working closely with microbiologists and clinicians, the post holder will be involved with many aspects of our antimicrobial stewardship programme including guideline development, clinical audit, provision of web-based resources and training/education. The post holder will apply their clinical skills in reviewing patients and will have an opportunity to attend multidisciplinary team meetings and stewardship ward rounds.
The successful applicants will be a champion for antimicrobial optimisation across the Trust. As a clinical role model, you will need to consistently demonstrate the ability to provide safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient use of antimicrobials in your clinical role

Main duties of the job
Our 115-strong Pharmacy team provides procurement, distribution, dispensary, ward-based, cancer, aseptic and homecare services to Great Western Hospital, our Trust- managed primary care network and several other local community health services.
We embrace new technologies. Our pharmacy robots, Wally & Eve, are invaluable members of our team; electronic prescribing is well-established in almost all inpatient and outpatient settings at Great Western Hospital; we use CareFlow EPR electronic patient records system and NerveCentre for electronic handover notes; and all pharmacists are issued with their own laptop to capitalise on this connectivity.

- Ensure the quality measures, as identified in the antimicrobial stewardship plan, are implemented

- To monitor use of broad spectrum antimicrobials through use of EPMA reports andanalyze prescribing patterns across specialties providing a regular update to the Trust Antimicrobial Working Group.
- To lead in provision of education for doctors, independent prescribers, nurses and pharmacists to support medicines management of antimicrobials.
- To ensure best use of electronic prescribing to support antimicrobial stewardship, working with the EPMA team to develop antimicrobial protocols and to produce EPMA reports, developing local systems and processes to encourage regular review of antimicrobial prescriptions and peer review of antimicrobial prescribing.

- To promote, through stewardship activities, the reduced consumption and 72 hour review of antimicrobials
