Job summary

Are you a registered Nurse for Adults or Children but have had a break in your career? Are you interested in returning to practice?

The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust delivers a range of acute and community services across Swindon. As a Trust we offer a variety of high quality placement opportunities and aim to offer placements in your preferred area of practice where you could secure a future position.

To return to the Nursing & Midwifery Council professional register you will need to undertake a period of updating your skills and practice. The term used to describe this period of updating is called Return to Practice (RtP).

The Return to Practice (Nursing) programme is delivered by the University of the West of England. The next course is scheduled to start 18th September 2023 and involves a variety of learning activities including a session in the simulated clinical area to practice clinical skills and a number of in person and online learning sessions. During your practice hours you will be paid band 3 on our bank.

Successful completion of the Return to Practice programme includes achieving the NMC competency standards in the practice setting and passing a written assessment.

Main duties of the job

We do appreciate that returning to practice can be daunting so initially you will be placed with an experienced professional who will act as your supervisor offering support and guidance. Preceptorship is available once the course has been successfully completed. Whatever stage in your career, we will offer you the support, guidance and training and development opportunities you need to develop a fulfilling and exciting career.
