Job summary

The Head and Neck department are inviting applications from experienced and ambitious candidates for the role of Laboratory Manager/Chief Maxillofacial Technologist to join our successful team. We are looking for a hard-working individual who is enthusiastic and committed to delivering exceptional patient care.

The post holder will be professionally responsible for and performing the full range of highly complex and specialised work including innovative development and design, providing the technical support and clinical/technical advice to major specialised areas of Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, ENT Head and Neck Cancer Surgical Team and Plastic Surgery for Cleft Lip and Palate.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with patients and internal and external colleagues.

Main duties of the job

1. Professionally responsible for the management of the Dental Technology Service and staff, focusing management efforts in coordinating the multi- disciplined technical services to provide effective and efficient service to support clinical activity.2. Actively participate in, and on policies, procedures and equipment with consultants and staff in ongoing and new developments within the department and associated functional areas.3. Establish effective communication systems to ensure the rapid and accurate dissemination of information throughout the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department.4. Promoting good communications with other health professionals both within and outside the trust.5. Record the laboratory's activity and provide data as required for future planning.6. Together with the consultants, develop a range of qualitative measures and standards to be adopted bythe laboratory
