Clinical Engineering Equipment Support/Stock Controller

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Clinical Engineering Equipment Support assistant.

The post holder will assist with stock control within the department and ensure that adequate levels of supplies are maintained and distributed throughout the trust. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that new/replacement vehicles are fully kitted ready for operational use.

The post holder will assist in the operation of electronic systems appropriately in relation to medical device records and consumables and to ensure that computerised records for the medical devices are maintained and updated.

Main duties of the job

The role will require the provision of high quality equipment support and administrative service for the Medical Devices / Clinical Engineering department and the wider directorate, to include organisation and device management, the use of EEAST's stock and asset management database, whilst continuing to develop and maintain good working relationships by being flexible, adaptable, polite, positive and empathetic, communicating effectively and informatively.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  1. The post holder will be required to assist and support with preparation of serviceable Devices and associated consumables for delivery to the wider Trust and to assist with the co-ordinating for collections of faulty devices and consumables.
  2. To participate in departmental projects as required.
  3. Operate electronic systems appropriately in relation to medical device records and consumables and to ensure that computerised records for the medical devices are maintained and updated in an accurate and timely manner for audit purposes.
  4. To assist with ordering and purchasing of devices and consumables as well as ensuring that adequate levels of supplies are maintained and distributed accordingly.
  5. To be assist with stock control of both medical devices and consumables.
  6. To work closely with the Medical Devices Team to assist with scheduled and unscheduled work across the region to order to provide for sufficient equipment to meet operational needs of the service.
  7. To work collaboratively to develop and undertake audits, travelling across the Trust, in order to continually improve the effective and efficient use of medical devices.
  8. To assist with the production of any guideline documents and protocols required within the Department.
  9. To be aware of and adhere to polices and SOPs relevant to Clinical Engineering.
  10. Assist the Clinical Engineering Department in ensuring a pool of spare equipment and associated items are available in a clean and operational condition.
  11. Assist in exchanging equipment for service, inspection or repair and checking basic functionality.
  12. Responsible for ensuring new vehicles are fully kitted.
  13. Assist in the replacement of defective equipment on vehicles or station.
  14. Responsible for ensuring that all audit and exchange documents are completed for traceability / audit purposes.
  15. Issue stock as and when required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to NVQ 3 level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience.
  • GCSE Grade C or above in English or equivalent.
  • Full British driving licence, Category B for at least two years. (Up to three penalty points would be considered dependent upon offence code).

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Co-ordination of daily workloads and planning of asset servicing, cleaning and distribution.
  • Ability to receive and deliver effective communication (both written and verbal) across multiple Support Services, the Trust and with all partners and individuals.
  • Able to analyse information and compile reports.
  • Provide excellent customer service individually or as part of a team.
  • IT Skills - working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of stock control systems

Experience

  • Previous experience of computer based administration functions within a Medical Devices Department.
  • Significant business and support services administrative experience
