Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Dispatch Team Leader in the Norwich EOC who will be primarily responsible for the efficient operation of the dispatching function in the EOC whilst on duty, and the effective and efficient deployment of resources, following a set deployment plan, in accordance with the needs of the service. The successful post holder will also be responsible for ensuring that EOC staff fulfill their roles to the standard set for their position within the EOC.

Main duties of the job

The Dispatch Team Leader is primarily responsible for the efficient operationof the dispatching function in the EOC whilst on duty, and the effective andefficient deployment of resources following a set deployment plan inaccordance with the needs of the service. They are also responsible forensuring that EOC staff fulfil their roles to the standard set for their positionwithin the EOC.

About us

EEAST employs over 5,000 staff with a further 1,000+ volunteers who between them cover 7,500 square miles and care for a population of more than 6 million.

Our three control rooms in Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Essex handle more than 1 million 999 calls every year, over 2,500 calls a day.

We manage a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles including double staffed ambulances, rapid response cars, operational commander response vehicles, patient transport and support service vehicles.

The East of England works alongside 17 Acute Trusts with Accident & Emergency services and a Major Trauma Centre in Cambridge. Access is available to neighbouring MTCs such as those in London.

To be responsible for the maintenance of ambulance resource cover atappropriate response posts by hour of day, in accordance withoperational procedures and the prioritised System Status Plan. Todirect resources, which are available within the Trust, to support anincident or shortfall that the post holder identifies on a live-time basis.To ensure that the vehicles within each locality are deployed to highpriority posts within the area as they become available.
