Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Digital Team of the East of England Ambulance service as the Trusts Integration Specialist.

The successful applicant with be responsible for the day to day support and maintenance of the Trusts Integration Engine (TIE), and also lead on it's continuing development and strategy.

You may have had experience of Digital Integration Engines in you current or previous roles, or alternatively have a strong back ground supporting and administering multiple business critical applications. This with a proven record of continuous ongoing development, in job training will be provided to the right candidate to upskill to the required level to perform the requirements of this role.

Main duties of the job

Daily monitoring of the TIE, ensuring any issues are identified and resolved as soon as possible.

Ensure the TIE is secure and patched in line with the Trust's patching policy.

Ensure that third party support is maintained for all business-critical infrastructure.

Must be able to present TIE designs to stakeholders.

Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders both within the Trust and outside of the Trust.

The Integration Specialist will play a key role in the development of the Trust's TIE strategy, and lead in the design for the programme of infrastructure enabling projects.

Management of all Trusts Integration Engine requirements and agree standards for the approval of the functional specification documents to ensure consistency and compatibility with the strategic vision.

Analyse and problem solve TIE-based solutions.

About us

The Infrastructure Team is made up of 11 staff, these include the Service Manager for Infrastructure, two technicians, four senior technicians and four Specialists, one for Azure/Cloud, one for Network, one for Integration and finally this post, Infrastructure specialist.

The team has many years experience delivering excellence in healthcare digital solutions, this is a friendly and approachable team, which despite being spread across the east of England work closely together on a daily basis.

This role will manage the overall technical design for the Trusts Integration Engine (TIE) strategy, with the ability to present and demonstrate the Trusts Integration Engine Infrastructure and strategy.

The Integration Specialist needs to fully understand the technology vision, objectives, deliverables, and organisational goals. This role is key to defining the strategy of the TIE strategy with current and future industry standards.

Responsible for ensuring that the TIEs technical design standards are managed across the whole Trust infrastructure and system development programmes.

Formulate and review system development methodology and standards to ensure a common approach and consistent standard for all Digital programmes of work.

Manage an overview of all Trusts Integration Engine technology requirements and agree standards for the approval of the functional specification documents to ensure consistency and compatibility with the strategic vision.

Manage the overall technical design for the Trusts Integration Engine, including documentation of all TIE technologies.

Approve, in consultation with the Service Delivery manager for Infrastructure and the Head of Live Services, TIE architecture for the Trust.

Responsible for TIE security and assisting with penetration testing annually.

Responsible for ensuring value for money and future affordability (including whole life costs) of TIE technical solutions.

Responsible for the TIE strategy in conjunction with the Service Delivery manager for Infrastructure

Monitor and report on a regular basis the status of TIE status.

Responsible for ensuring that technical documentation and diagrams are regularly updated to guarantee the latest designs and blueprint are available to all.

The post holder will support/lead

The Integration Specialist will play a key role in the development of the TIE strategy, and lead in the design for all TIE enabling projects.

Ensure input to TIE project work-streams to support any Trust initiatives.

Specify, order, and manage all Trust Integration Engine solutions ensuring any issues are appropriately managed and SLAs are adhered to.

Manage relationship with third party TIE providers and hold Service Reviews in conjunction with the Service Delivery Manager for Infrastructure at regular intervals for all third parties providing Integration Services to the Trust.

Ensure that TIE technologies standards are managed and software levels kept up to date including patching to ensure the highest level of system security.

Work with Third parties to ensure vulnerabilities are patched before they can be exploited.

Design future Trust TIE solutions, Infrastructure designs, selection, and procurement of infrastructure services providers.

Ensure continued support and mentoring is given to the Digital Team to enable the successful delivery and handover of TIE solutions.

Ensure compliance with national guidelines and statutory regulations that are applicable to the Trust.

Provide regular reports to the Infrastructure Service Delivery Manager and Head of Live Services requested.

Work with and mentor Infrastructure Technicians for TIE related work streams projects and deliverables

Provide regular reports, documentation updates and verbal updates (including presentations) to the Infrastructure Service Delivery Manager and Head of Live Services to ensure knowledge and plans are shared appropriately.

Work with the Digital Team in their preparation of technical specifications for all departments in the Trust.

Liaise with third party partners to produce a programme of Integration Engine based technical research and pilot projects for emerging Integration Engine solutions and technologies. Research and agree the programme of strategic initiatives with the Infrastructure Service Delivery manager. Work with the Digital team to involve the wider team with these initiatives.

Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders both within the Trust and outside of the Trust.

Present TIE solution technical and complex areas to stakeholders who do not have technical backgrounds, ensuring they understand the background and impact of changes and planned work.

Where necessary, carry out solution testing of TIE systems to ensure applications and hardware meet the needs of the Trust. This will involve using specialist hardware and software tools to diagnose and resolve issues and will also include performance monitoring. Produce reports for the Digital Team management.

Assist members of the Digital Team and the wider Trust in the completion of business cases that have an Integration Engine technical impact. Provide input in the preparation of benefits realisation and financial information, including capital requirements and ongoing revenue requirements.

Work with the Digital Team to ensure that downtime due to TIE infrastructure, upgrades and changes are minimised and service availability is maximised; identify any changes required to support this objective and plan and implement any necessary changes.

Work with the Infrastructure Service Delivery Manager and the Head of Live Services to produce capital plans for each year which reflect the TIE designs.

Ensure contractors discharge their responsibilities in respect of their role working with TIE solutions. Ensure they produce reports to demonstrate compliance, and if there are gaps in delivery, negotiate and agree a plan of action for resolution.

  • Degree, other tertiary qualification, or evidence of relevant on-job qualification/equivalent hands-on experience (5 years).
  • Formal Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems certification or 3 years' experience configuring and administering Windows server 2012r2 and above.
  • ITIL3/4 Foundation.

Desirable

  • Formal Microsoft Azure certification to administrator level.

Knowledge and Experience
