Job summary

We seek a Multi-Professional Approved Clinician leader to join a 16 bed female acute in-patient psychiatric care unit in Norwich covering central Norfolk.

The inpatient unit is based in Hellesdon Hospital and serves the population of Central Norfolk (approximately 529,555). At present, there are five wards at Hellesdon Hospital. Four wards predominantly serve the demand from Central Norfolk and one ward, the PICU, is trust wide. However, to make best use of bed capacity there is no exclusion on admissions from other Trust areas.

The acute pathway at Hellesdon Hospital comprises a crisis resolution and home treatment team, four acute wards and the PICU. Three new wards have recently been opened that have replaced and add-to the existing accommodation offering state of the art acute and rehabilitation facilities for staff and patients, with a male ward reopening later in the year.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be an expert practitioner and highly advanced in their clinical scope of practice, providing professional leadership and consultancy, practice and, service development in alignment with the core four pillars of multi-professional consultant practice. The postholder will contribute to and lead research, policy and service development, quality improvements, outcomes measures and provision of training to colleagues, within their area of practice/inpatient setting. They will be expected to represent the trust locally and nationally in relevant professional meetings, networks, and forums, as well as contribute to the development of the MPAC role within the trust.

The postholder will provide strong, visible leadership to MDT colleagues, leading the treatment, formulation, review, and ongoing care/treatment pathway for the patient group. The postholder will work autonomously, within professional guidelines, and will be responsible for compiling and completing statutory documentation and providing written AC reports under the Mental Health Act.
