Job summary
We are pleased to be able to offer the opportunity to be part of the health provision within the Norfolk Youth Justice Service (NYJS) as an assistant psychologist. This unique pathway within NYJS currently consists of a mental health practitioner, speech and language therapy and psychology combined and is embedded within the NYJS service, allowing the post holder the opportunity to work alongside multiple professionals from different backgrounds and disciplines.
NYJS aims to provide the highest standard of trauma-informed, child-first provision to the children and families they work with to achieve meaningful change. The health pathway is a partnership between Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridge Community Services and the Norfolk Youth Justice Service.
The successful applicant will work as part of a team, supporting in psychological assessment, consultation to other staff and holding a small, supervised caseload of direct work with children within the service as appropriate. They will have regular support and supervision from colleagues and the opportunity to develop and enhance their clinical skills.
Main duties of the job
This post is based within the NYJS, working alongside youth justice professionals. You will have a locality base but much of your working week will be out and about in the community or working from home so you must have a driving licence and access to a vehicle to meet the requirements of the post. In line with our current ways of working, you'll be expected to be in the office at least 2 days a week, in addition to team days.
We have close relationships with the Clinical Psychology Doctorate training course at the University of East Anglia and routinely offer placements to trainee clinical psychologists. We also have an excellent research department in the Trust.
