Job summary

To oversee and deliver high quality evidence-based practice and embed the Occupational Therapy process within LD CAMHS.

Undertake occupation focused assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of treatment for service users. Utilising additional assessments within the area of clinical specialism.

Contribute to and participate in multi-disciplinary team assessment and formulation. Providing specialist occupation-based advice and formulation.

Participate/lead on developments within the service by using outcome measures and engaging in Quality Improvement projects (both locally and Trust wide).

Monitor the practice of junior staff and learners, identifying any learning and development needs in respect of their clinical skills base.

Deputise for Therapy/Clinical Leads where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

Clinical

  • To embed the Occupational Therapy process into the clinical area.
  • To screen or undertake a form of initial assessment of all/referred service users to determine whether Occupational Therapy input is required and prioritise referrals by need.
  • To utilise both standardised and non-standardised assessments (as identified by the service and required by the Trust professional leads) to inform treatment. For example, Remotivation Process, functional, daily living or vocational assessments.
  • To use outcome measures to demonstrate changes in a service users function and/or presentation as a minimum at start and end of intervention. For extended pieces of work the outcome measure should be completed more frequently which will be determined locally.
  • To work collaboratively with service users to set treatment goals and document on the service users core care plan.
  • Where appropriate, to undertake ADL assessments and home visits as part of the Occupational Therapy process.
  • Undertake clinical risk assessment and management in relation to Occupational Therapy interventions and contribute to wider MDT risk assessment and management for complex cases.
