Job summary

The Domestic Abuse Practitioner is an integral member of the all-age Safeguarding team, providing support and guidance to the operational leadership of safeguarding within Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) with a focus on Domestic Abuse related issues.

Working closely with the Safeguarding Team, and a range of partner agencies, the Domestic Abuse Practitioner will support the team to enable the Trust and its staff to fulfil their statutory obligations under the Domestic Abuse Act (2021) and wider safeguarding legislation and responsibilities against key local and national standards for the safeguarding the victims of Domestic Abuse.

The Safeguarding team has shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of issues arising in relation to safeguarding including but not limited to: Supporting the Safeguarding Duty system, supporting professional investigations and Serious Incident investigations, provision of expert advice and consultation for staff, provision of training, attendance at safeguarding partnership sub groups as appropriate, locality governance and team meetings, audit and under the supervision of the Named Practitioner for Safeguarding Children and Families, and Specialist safeguarding practitioners, the Domestic Abuse Practitioner will support the operational leadership of safeguarding within Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT)

Main duties of the job

The Domestic Abuse Practitioner will provide expert guidance on domestic abuse legislation, safeguarding practice and Trust policy, offering specialist advice and training to staff across NSFT. They will support locality teams to adopt a Think Family approach, contribute to Serious Case Reviews and MARAC processes, and coordinate the Domestic Abuse Champion network. The role includes partnership working with external agencies, supporting policy development, leading on sexual safety standards, and advising HR on cases involving staff. The practitioner will also contribute to data analysis, safer care initiatives, and project delivery, while maintaining professional standards, CPD, and acting as a mentor and role model within the Trust.
