Peer Support Worker
The closing date is 11 November 2025
Job summary
The Lotus Team supports women and/or birthing people who have experienced psychological distress as a result of their perinatal experiences. This may be due to a traumatic birth or pregnancy experience, pregnancy loss, neonatal death, or being separated from their baby due to social care procedures. The trauma may also exist prior to conception, e.g. when tokophobia (severe fear of birth) prevents a woman from achieving a wanted pregnancy. Women can be eligible for care from the Lotus Team without being pregnant or having their baby with them.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual with lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges relevant to the Lotus Team as a part-time band 3 Peer Support Worker. It is essential for candidates to be willing and able to talk about relevant parts of their experiences and recovery journey with service users. Successful applicants will be required to undertake in-house training to complete and pass the NSFT Peer Support Certificate.
Main duties of the job
As a PSW you will be acting as a role model by using your own lived experience of recovering from mental health challenges, to inspire hope and help service users meet their individualised recovery goals. You will work with service users to help them to develop a belief in their own abilities to deal with various situations; the confidence to have control over their own motivation, behaviour, and social environment and the ability to successfully achieve their goals in life.
The Lotus Team provides care for individuals across Norfolk and Waveney. Our Peer Support Workers conduct home visits and other community-based support and therefore must be able to travel independently across the county.
