Job summary

We are looking for a passionate and motivated assistant psychologist to join our friendly and supportive Community Learning Disability Youth, Child and Adolescent mental health service (LD YOUTH CAMHS).

We are a specialist service for under 25 year olds with a learning disability where there are concerns about their behaviour, emotional well-being or mental health and whose needs cannot be met in mainstream services.

This post offers a 12 month fixed term opportunity to gain broad experience of delivering psychological support within a multi-disciplinary team. We are committed to training and development and you should expect to access all relevant CPD for your role whilst in this post, supervision and opportunities for reflective practice.

A car and a full driving licence are needed as this post requires the ability to travel.

Main duties of the job

You will join a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of Clinical Psychologists, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Learning Disability Nurses, Occupational Therapist, Systemic Practitioner and Support Workers, working closely with social care teams, specialist schools and colleges and local care providers. It is therefore essential that you are a team player.

You will be supervised and supported by a qualified psychologist to deliver specialist assessment and therapeutic interventions with young people and their families, with a strong emphasis on risk assessment, care planning and safeguarding.

Additionally, this varied role will include supporting the team in the collection of routine outcome measures, co-facilitation of groups, teaching, audit, participation/co-production projects and developing resources to support the delivery of the service.

We work from the office, in the community and remotely. Our base is located in Lowestoft - close to the city of Norwich, varied East Anglian coastline and picturesque Broads National Park.
