If so, we are seeking to recruit to fill two full-time substantive Assistant Psychologist posts and one full-time 12 month fixed term Assistant Psychologist post within our Norfolk and Waveney Perinatal Services. Each post will be based within either the Perinatal Community Mental Health Team (PCMHT), the Lotus Maternal Mental Health Service (MMHS) or the Kingfisher Mother and Baby Unit (MBU).

Main duties of the job

The PCMHT offers specialist mental health input to women and their babies antenatally and postnatally. The mothers we work with present with a range of mental health difficulties including depression and anxiety, PTSD, complex trauma, emotion regulation difficulties, bipolar disorder and postpartum psychosis. We cover the whole of Norfolk and Waveney and comprise of a full multi-disciplinary team including medics, nurses, nursery nurses, peer support workers, social workers, occupational therapist and psychological therapists. This post will be based at Kingfisher House (Hellesdon Hospital) and the Gatehouse (Julian Hospital).

The Lotus Maternal Therapeutic Outreach Service is a small, dedicated team comprising of Clinical Psychologists, Peer Support Workers and Specialist Midwives. The team offers specialist assessment and psychological interventions to women and birthing people who have experienced mental health difficulties relating to their birth experience, including Birth Trauma, fear of childbirth (Tokophobia) and baby loss, including separation from their baby due to Children's Services involvement. This post will be based at the Gatehouse (Julian Hospital).

The Kingfisher Mother and Baby Unit has eight beds and offers specialist acute in-patient treatment for mothers who have serious mental illness, in an environment where they can stay with their babies. Mothers have a range of presentations including postpartum psychosis, severe post-natal depression and severe post-natal anxiety. We are the unit for the east of England region and have a full multi-disciplinary team including medics, nurses, nursery nurses, midwives, health visitors, social workers, an occupational therapist, psychologists and a psychological therapist.

You will receive weekly supervision from a qualified psychologist. As a service we have close links to the clinical psychology doctoral training programme at the UEA and have supported previous assistant psychologists onto clinical training.Applicants must have excellent literacy and numeracy skills, a psychology degree with 2.1 or above and be eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society. About us

The role for all three posts will involve the successful candidate working with their team to deliver psychologically informed assessments and interventions, with a focus on short term individual work alongside some opportunities for group work. The post holder would also be responsible for supporting the team to complete routine outcome measures, updating databases and be involved in auditing psychological therapies within the service. There would be opportunities for service-related research and audit.

You will receive weekly supervision from a qualified psychologist. As a service we have close links to the clinical psychology doctoral training programme at the UEA and have supported previous assistant psychologists onto clinical training.
