Job summary

Wedgwood Adult inpatient services are looking to recruit an 8a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. We would also be happy to recruit a newly qualified psychologist and support them through their preceptorship.

The successful candidate would be working within a busy Therapy Team, consisting of Occupational Therapists, Assistant Psychologists, Clinical Associate's in Psychology, Trainee Clinical Psychologists and Peer Support workers. The team is led by a Principle Clinical Psychologist. We seek to support the patient's admission with the provision of high-quality assessment and formulations with subsequent formulation driven interventions. We work with individuals but also the wider system where appropriate. We work closely with the wider MDT who are positive about the role Psychologists can offer.

The successful candidate will be able to draw on a variety of evidence-based models to inform their practice. The service has a core element of DBT, however training will be provided to support the candidate in their work within this paradigm. Supervision of the assistant psychologists will be a part of the role if the candidate has appropriate experience however this is not an essential criterion at point of application.

Main duties of the job

The Therapy team seeks to develop individual's specialist interests and Successful candidates will be supported to access external training to enhance their clinical skills and continue their professional development.

The Therapy team has a strong multi-professional working approach as such the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work alongside other professionals recognising when to refer to other disciplines to enhance the patient experience.

The successful candidate will offer formulation driven interventions for the patient but also on team dynamics, offer individual therapy sessions, develop meaningful risk formulations with the patients, lead the development of Psychotherapy new groups, join MDT discussions offering specialist advice for the wider MDT. Contributing to the care planning with patients, offering reflective practice and debriefs to with inpatient teams. Developing individual Positive Behaviour Support plans with patients and completing the reflective debriefs post incident.

Desirable

  • Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice

Experience

  • Experience of working with a range of complex and challenging behaviours and exercising full clinical responsibility for psychological treatment.

Desirable

  • Experience of representing psychology within MDT setting (clinical and organisational contexts).

Skills
