Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced 8b Clinical Psychologist to work within NSFT in the East Suffolk Older Adults acute ward (Willows, Ipswich Hospital) and Dementia Intensive Support Service (DISTE),in Ipswich and the local area.

This role will include taking a lead in strengthening and developing the older people's mental health pathway, being part of an experienced and dedicated MDT, and supporting mental health recovery in older people.You will also have the direct support of a qualified Clinical Associate Psychologist and psychological therapists, and be a part of a large and friendly team of experienced and supportive psychological therapists and and psychologists in the older adult mental health services across East Suffolk.

You will be instrumental in continuing to develop the pathway further in line with our transformation objectives.

Main duties of the job

This is a clinical leadership role, in which you will be supported to develop your potential. You will help us to deliver and further develop high quality assessment and treatment with a focus on formulation, within our older people's mental health pathway in Ipswich. You will offer supervision, training and reflective practice to other staff.

Through a visionary and dedicated approach, you will be supported to champion a culture based on principles of recovery, compassion, choice and personalised care, providing a role model for the team. You will be committed to providing evidence-based practice and will be aware of current national models, relating to mental health services.

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or its equivalent, including eligibility for chartered status with the BPS.
  • Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Experience

Essential

  • Specialist complex psychological assessment and treatment of people with a wide range of mental health problems, of varying severity and complexity.
  • Extensive experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist and evidence of specialist knowledge gained

Skills

Essential

  • Use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
  • Assessment, evaluation and management of risk associated with mental ill health and related psychopathology.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Practitioner level knowledge of at least two models of psychological therapy.
  • Providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
