Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a 0.5wte 8C consultant clinical/counselling/forensic psychologist to head up the male inpatient pathway at Hellesdon Hospital, with two wards and a total of 33 beds.

This is a clinically focused role, you will be working alongside the 8a clinical psychologist to help shape and enhance the psychological offer to our male patients. This includes indirectly working with the wider system around them, both internally within the multi-disciplinary ward teams, and the relevant community and social networks. Additionally, you will be directly working with the most complex cases to support shared psychological formulation, barriers to discharge and enhancing their potential for positive discharge as well as meaningful recovery.

Alongside this you will be working closely with the associate director of psychology for the emergency care pathway, to contribute to both locality and trust wide projects. These include the transformational care strategy, NHS England Priorities and devising of Trust Clinical Networks. The Trust's recent re-structure has highlighted the need to focus on inpatient flow and discharge as a top priority and with the new build also being open, there will be plenty of opportunity to be influential in change and innovation.

Main duties of the job

The work is challenging, fast paced and rewarding; you will sit within a friendly, experienced and supportive wider acute psychology team who cover all five wards and CRHT and comprise of clinical psychologists, psychological therapists, an art therapist and an assistant psychologist.

This role would be a great opportunity for someone who is currently banded 8b and looking for a career opportunity to step up to a consultant level post. It would also suit someone who is either looking for a part-time post (and there may be the possibility of hours being extended over time) or, to potentially take it one as a split post sitting alongside your current position.

Within your role you will be expected to provide:

Clinical leadership, particularly with regards to MDT decision making, risk management and reduction in restrictive intervention, as well as within the wider inpatient systems.

Promotion of a psychologically informed culture through use of consultancy, supervision, training, and team formulations.

Overseeing the management and clinical priorities of the other psychology colleagues who work across the male pathway. Working across the wider service and systems to aid inpatient flow, positive discharge and reduce re-admission. Working closely with the Associate Director of Psychologist to contribute to acute, locality and trust wide priorities, initiatives and projects.

Contributing to data collection/analysis, outcome measures and research to support the above.
