Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and forward thinking leader, an experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse who is passionate about safeguarding.

This is a central role in our safeguarding and Safer Care leadership team. As the Safeguarding professional lead you will lead trust wide, across children, transitional and adult safeguarding. You will lead an expert Corporate safeguarding team and you will represent the Trust in external safeguarding activity as well provide specialist advice and support on complex safeguarding matters within the Trust, supporting and developing an expert corporate safeguarding team and through this support the safety of our people and our health system.

Main duties of the job

To meet statutory requirements of the Care Act, 2014, Working Together to Safeguard Children, 2018 and in the Intercollegiate Documents for Safeguarding Adults and for Safeguarding Children and Young People: Roles and Competences for health care staff 2018.

To provide trust wide safeguarding expertise and Trust assurances on meeting their safeguarding responsibilities, as detailed in the Safeguarding Accountability and Assurance Framework (SAAF), providing quarterly and annual safeguarding family assurance reports for Clinical Governance, Quality Committee and Board.

To monitor the process for: managing safeguarding enquiries; safeguarding adult reviews; domestic homicide cases; high risk cases; and MARAC cases to ensure that they are responded to as quickly as possible in the gathering of rapid review information, chronologies and IMRs, consistent with a thorough and fair process and timely response in mitigating and managing narrative risks and learning and improving quality of care.

The post holder will define current internal safeguarding processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future processes, document those processes as they are agreed and oversee their delivery.
