We are looking to recruit a part time Specialty Doctor to join the Later Life Peoples Community Mental Health Team in Bury St Edmunds.
Main duties of the job
This is a 0.6 WTE Specialty Doctor post working across Bury North and Bury South Old Age Psychiatry teams based in G Block, Hospital Road, Bury St Edmunds.
The post relates to West Suffolk Services. The post is in the Suffolk Older Peoples Service Pathway. There is also 1.0WTE Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist working in Bury North Older Peoples Community Mental Health Team and 1.0 WTE Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist working in Bury South Older Peoples Community Mental Health Team.
The Suffolk Older Peoples Service will meet the needs of people of all ages with dementias and people with other serious mental health problems who also have complexities associated with aging. Such complexity might revolve around complex and multiple physical healthcare needs, complex prescribing issues or complex social care needs. It is a community service.
There is a separate Memory Assessment Service in West Suffolk, MATs.
Patients who have major functional psychiatric disorders and have been seen in the adult services would not necessarily migrate to this service as they age, unless their needs become more complex and are clearly better met by this pathway.
