Mental Health Nurse Band 5 Development to Band 6 Post
Are you looking for an exciting developmental opportunity? We're seeking aRegistered Mental Health Nurseto join our established team, working with Older People in the community, based at Carlton Court Hospital in Carlton Colville, Lowestoft, Suffolk.
Our friendly and supportive team provides an intensive support response to people with a dementia diagnosis, and to Older People with a functional diagnosis and complex needs. This is for people in their own homes or care home environment.
We are looking for someone who is interested in working in Older People's services, has an interest in physical as well as mental health and who has some understanding of assessment, the referral process, case handling and working collaboratively with the wider MDT.
Our service users are interesting and varied and the work is demanding and challenging so we will support you to learn and develop. You will have the opportunity to learn phlebotomy, undertake a range of psychologically informed learning and discuss cases at daily safety huddles for ongoing care and treatment. You will have monthly clinical and management supervision to support you, as well as colleagues who will be available to you daily.
Main duties of the job
As a new Mental Health Nurse, you will be supported to work towards development Band 6:
- Holding a team caseload of patients with organic and functional presentations under CPA and NCPA under supervision.
- Assessing and managing risk.
- Using Dialog+ where possible and Recovery Care Planning with service users and carers.
- Managing shift allocation
- Attending MDT meetings and ward review meetings.
- Being part of the duty rota.
- Communicate effectively through notes on Lorenzo and letters to GPs and other involved parties.
- Administering depot medication.
- There is an opportunity to learn to take ECG readings and to learn phlebotomy.
- Driving is essential for this role.
