Job summary

Specialty Doctor - General Surgery 10 PA's per week plus on-call

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our expanding and dynamic Surgical team. We are advertising 1 Specialty Doctor position within Surgery full-time, based on 10 PA's a week.

You will be expected to carry out ward rounds/reviews on the surgical units, assist in theatre and undertake outpatient clinics. You will also be rostered to our Surgical Same Day Emergency Care Unit and when on duty and your periods of duty will be defined in accordance with the rota prepared by the Rota Coordinator/Consultant lead.

This is a full time post at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant must have a license to practice from the GMC and interest in medical education. The department has 11 dedicated consultants working across General Surgery, Upper GI, Lower GI and Breast Specialties. Within Surgery, we have an Integrated and Surgical Gynae Unit and a Day Surgical Unit. There is also a busy Surgical Same Day Emergency Care unit that is also staffed by our Specialty Doctor Team.

The post holder will be clinically and educationally responsible to the Surgery Consultant Team.

Main duties of the job

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking applications to appoint a Specialty Doctor in the General Surgery Department. Candidates will be expected to have at least 2 to 3 years' experience in General Surgery. The post holder will be based solely at Tameside General Hospital. The post holder will be whole time - currently 10 pa's. The job plan will be based on the Terms and Conditions of the new Specialty Doctors contract.
