Job summary

Continence Specialist Nurse

Band 6 - 24 hours per week

The post holder will provide skilled nursing assessments, treatment and advice to adult patients in a variety of community settings using specialist continence clinical skills. They will undertake a leading role in the assessment, diagnosis and formulation of treatment plans as well as advising and treating patients, carers, families and staff of other disciplines to ensure treatment plans may be delivered. The post holder will also provide leadership within the inter-disciplinary team, providing specialist advice to other nurse specialities, and AHP's. The post holder will work collaboratively as part of an integrated team to provide a high standard of care to all that access the service, actively participate in in house training and assist in service development projects.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage a clinical caseload for patients with continence concerns.
  • Provide continence advice to patients,
  • Maintain records as an autonomous practitioner
  • Provide a quality prevention and treatment service to patients, carers and those who work with clients with continence problems via clinical practice, teaching, research and development.
  • Ensure professional and legal standards are maintained.
  • Liaise with other members of the MDT to ensure that the service contributes to timely and appropriate patient assessment, treatment and discharge.
  • Contribute to the Trust targets for timely treatment
  • Planning and delivery of continence related education and training.
  • Active role in service development projects

  • Registered nurse on NMC register
  • Experience in the speciality of continence care

Desirable

  • Evidence of degree level qualification in health/ nursing related studies or evidence of continuing academic progression/ study in combination with equivalent experience
  • Management of leadership experience with appropriate CPD

Experience
