Are you a 1stLevel nurse with 1 years' post registration and Community Nursing experience.
Do you have evidence of 120 credits at a minimum of level 5 or study at level 6/ 7 and a broad understanding of Community Nursing?
Can you demonstrate knowledge of leadership and the role of a Community Specialist Practitioner

In conjunction with Manchester Metropolitan University we are pleased to offer a seconded development opportunity to the Apprenticeship PgDip Specialist Practice Programme (District Nursing pathway).
This is an exciting opportunity, with the programme delivered through the apprenticeship route. This will enable students to achieve the knowledge, skills and clinical competencies to practice safely and effectively in the area of Community Specialist Practice/ District Nursing.
You will need to demonstrate knowledge of current issues within the NHS, Community Nursing, and their potential influence on District Nursing, together with a commitment to study at level 7
Main duties of the job
TheDistrict Nurse Apprenticeshipprogramme is a genuine job with an accompanying skills development programme. Through their Apprenticeship, Apprentices must gain the technical knowledge, practical experience, and wider skills they need for their immediate job and future career. The Apprentice gains this through a wide mix of learning in the workplace, formal off-the-job training, and the opportunity to practise new skills in a real work environment.
Responsibilities and duties:District Nurses plan, provide and monitor complex community nursing care and services. They manage a caseload of complex patients and families/carers, either with long-term conditions over a protracted period or those with acute short episodes of care, by leading a clinical team who often work in isolation without immediate and direct access to medical advice. They influence and lead change management initiatives within the service, for example, new ways of working, and new models of care.
About us
The length of the course is 53 weeks full time which requires 37.5 hours per week. The course time will be split between the university and the clinical placement according to the academic timetable. Students are supported in practice by an experienced District Nurse with the SPQ who will encourage a culture of critical reflection and ensure a suitable clinical learning environment.

They are to meet all the gateway requirements when advised by their employer and undertake the end assessment EPA. The apprentice will work in an allocated District Nursing team conducive to learning that will meet their core skills, knowledge and behaviour relevant to the programme specialism meeting the needs of contemporary healthcare for individuals, communities and populations.
The apprentice will work alongside a Practice Supervisor (Band 6 CSP) who manages a designated caseload of patients. The Practice assessor will confirm student achievement of proficiencies and programme outcomes for practice learning, informed by feedback sought and received from practice supervisors and work in partnership with the nominated academic assessor to evaluate and recommend the student for progression for each part of the programme.
