Main duties of the job

NQP Paramedics B5

You will be entering into a structured programme to properly integrate and support newly qualified paramedics into the ambulance service workplace, enabling the time to consistently apply academic knowledge, skills, and placement experience into confident practice. As a Newly Qualified Paramedic (NQP) you will be expected to undertake a two-year consolidation period of learning. This includes reflective practice and feedback, where thorough direct and indirect clinical supervision will help you to learn to apply your knowledge.

Evidence of completion of a two year consolidation of learning programme in a ambulance trust, if appointed on/after 1st September 2016

We will aim to -

  • Close the advert on22/01/2026 (depending on numbers, advert might close earlier).
  • Please refer to the'Application Guide'for tips on how to complete your application form.
  • Complete the application shortlisting by29/01/2026. You will receive notification by this date on whether your application has progressed to the next stage of recruitment.
  • Complete professional discussion & OSCE 7th & 8th Feb 2026
  • Driving Assessment - Date TBC
  • Sector Allocation preferences will be requested after professional discussion. Once Allocated Sector and Station, changes cannot be made.
  • You will need to be available to start your Induction 13th April 2026.
  • Provide a 6 week full time training course (2 week clinical, 4 week emergency driving) on commencement of the role.

About us

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
