NorthWest Ambulance Service (NWAS) is seeking a Patient Transport Services (PTS) Team Leaders to lead adedicated team in providing high-quality patient transport services across the region.About the Role: As a Team Leader within our PTS department, you will be responsible for leading,supervising and supporting a team of patient transport staU, ensuring that patients are transported safely,promptly, and with the utmost care. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining the high standards of patientcare and operational eUiciency, while managing day-to-day activities and ensuring compliance withrelevant policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

  • Key Responsibilities:Lead and supervise a team of patient transport staff at multiple sites, offering guidance and support in their day-to-day duties.
  • Ensure the safe and timely transport of patients to and from medical appointments, following all safety protocols.
  • Monitor performance, maximise efficiency provide feedback, coaching, and development opportunities for team members.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory, and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Help manage and optimise resources, including vehicles and equipment.

What We're Looking For:Proven leadership and supervisory experience, ideally in a healthcare or patient transport setting.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • A compassionate, patient-centred approach to care.
  • Able to demonstrate compassionate leadership
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems effectively.
  • A full, clean driving licence (D1 category preferred).
  • Flexibility and willingness to work a variety of shifts.

About us

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

  • Have or be working towards a Management or Supervisory qualification. CMI level 2 NVQ 3
  • Literacy and numeracy to standards equivalent to GSCE level
