Job summary

The Senior Clinical Audit Managers' role will be to have oversight and accountability for the functioning of clinical audit within the trust. This covers nationally mandated or contractually mandated audits to assure the organisation against the safety and effectiveness of its clinical activity.

The Senior Clinical Audit Manager will also assist the Clinical Effectiveness Lead in the delivery of a portfolio of clinical effectiveness projects and priorities as laid out in the trusts' annual plan.

Main duties of the job

  • To develop, implement and monitor a Trust Annual Clinical Audit Plan, which incorporates all clinical audit activity for the Trust in line with statutory, national and regional requirements.
  • Work in partnership with internal stakeholders to develop sustainable, quality improvement plans/initiatives that supports the delivery of service improvements through the clinical leadership structure.
  • To develop effective communication strategies (in liaison with the Trust communications team) for Clinical Audit and other Medical Directorate work streams as required to ensure potentially complex information is communicated effectively to all areas of the Trust in clear, understandable formats and in a timely manner.
  • To support and influence the development of relevant regional and national audit programmes, through effective engagement with other ambulance trusts and stakeholder groups.
  • To work across organisational service lines to ensure appropriate clinical audit frameworks are in place and embedded within day-to-day operations.
  • The production and implementation of potentially complex and detailed business cases that support the development of clinical audit initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of specialised strategies, policies and procedures relating to clinical standards for the Trust, in line with national policy, guidance and legislation.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

  • Experienced in chairmanship of meetings, allocating roles and action planning.

  • In-depth understanding of clinical governance requirements and the ability to implement and evaluate systems of governance.
  • Experience of collaboration with other NHS ambulance services, commissioners, other NHS providers and other relevant organisations
  • Experience of appraising Board members, Executives and/or other senior managers of the respective merits of different options and potential opportunities
